Tweed Heads on the New South Wales border is always a popular destination.

Golden beaches and nearby Coolangatta draw beach goers, lookout Point Danger offers panoramic views. Spot dolphins in the surf below. From Point Danger look south to Duranbah – or Flagstaff beach. Further north, Coolangatta’s Greenmount and Rainbow Bay beckon.

Tweed Heads has a wide range of accommodation including caravan parks, clubs and entertainment venues.

Hire a boat and explore the Tweed River, fishing, go crabbing or head to golf courses.

Tweed’s regional art gallery has the richest portrait prize in the world. Visit Cunningham Park and Jack Evans Boat Harbour, a site for sandy beaches, safe swimming and water sports.

Major events through the year include an annual vintage car rally, theatre, the Taste of Tweed Food Writers Festival and the Banana Festival.

Use Tweed as a base to explore southern regional parks and townships – Border Ranges, Nightcap and Mebbin National Parks, Burringbar, Chinderah, Tumbulgum and Tyalgum.
